Storage & Preservation
Well congratulations, you have just harvested and cured your cannabis! Now it’s time to store your sticky buds. BUT WAIT! Don’t just toss them in any old jar and call it good. Proper storage is KEY to maintaining flavor, potency, and freshness.
The Jar Situation: Not Just Any Glass Will Do
You may be tempted to throw your buds in a leftover jam jar, but hold up! Opt for a mason jar or specialized cannabis jar (which will be available soon at CheebaPet). Clear is fine, but if you want to pamper your plant, tinted is better. It protects your bud from light degradation.
Location, Location, Location
Keep your jars in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight, like the back of the closet or drawer that's not constantly open. Remember, light and heat are your buds' worst enemy drying those trichomes faster than you can say “bong rip”.
Humidity Control
Your buds don’t like being too dry and they definitely don’t like being too moist. The sweet spot for humidity is around 58%-62% Too dry, and your weed turns to dust; too moist; mold party!
No Air, No Problemo
Air is the silent killer of cannabis freshness. The more air in the container, the quicker your buds lose their potency. So keep jars filled to the top for minimal air space. Consider vacuum-sealed bags for smaller batches!
Label your bud
Nothing like reaching for what you think is a mellow indica for it to turn out to be a racy sativa that will have you reorganizing your house at 3:00am. Label your jars with the strain name, harvest date, and any other details you want to remember.
Final thoughts: You’ve put in the time and effort – don’t let the hard work go to waste with improper storage.
